(VANCOUVER, British Columbia) — The Vancouver Canucks signed 27-year-old defenseman Jason Garrison to a six-year contract.
The deal is worth $27.6 million according to a source of ESPN.com’s Pierre LeBrun.
“He fits into the way we play,” Canucks general manager Mike Gillis said to Canucks.com. “He’s going to get plenty of opportunity now that Sami Salo isn’t here. He’ll play on our power play and utilize his shot, and speed, power and size. He fits in really well with what we’re trying to do.”
Garrison, who is from British Columbia, comes to the Canucks after playing four seasons with the Florida Panthers.
Last season, Garrison put up a career high 33 points.
