Greinke Pitches Well, Still Loses Angels Debut
Published at(ANAHEIM, Calif) — Zach Greinke was good in his Angels debut, the only problem was Jeremy Hellickson was better.
Greinke pitched seven innings allowing two runs while striking out eight. Hellickson pitched six innings of shutout ball, leading the Tampa Bay Rays (53-49) to a 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Angels (55-47).
Despite the loss, Greinke seemed to be in good spirits.
“It’s been fun so far,” Greinke said. “I’ve always liked this stadium. It’s pretty early, but I feel pretty good so far. Hopefully we win a bunch of games and it becomes a fun season.”
The Milwaukee Brewers traded Greinke to the Angels Friday for shortstop Jean Segura and pitchers Ariel Pena and John Hellwig.
Greinke falls to 9-4 for the season.
