Hawks Sign Guard Lou Williams
Published at(NEW YORK) — With the departure of Joe Johnson via trade, the Atlanta Hawks needed to add some scoring punch to their lineup. In an effort to do so, the team has signed guard Lou Williams to a free agent contract.
Though the exact terms of the deal are unknown, what is known is that Williams has signed a multi-year deal with the franchise.
Williams, who is an Atlanta native, spent all seven seasons of his NBA career with the Philadelphia 76ers after the team drafted him in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft. This past season he averaged a career high 14.9 points per game off the bench and finished second in the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award.
“…happy to be part of a team that’s similar to the Sixers…Young, athletic, and hard working,” Williams wrote on his Twitter feed Tuesday evening.
In seven NBA seasons, Williams has career averages of 11.3 points and 3.0 assists per game.
