IDEQ Struggles Amid Budget Cuts
(POCATELLO) – Idaho’s Department of Environmental Quality has been forced to tighten its belt over the past few years. The agency has lost nearly one quarter of its budget since 2009. As of now, surface water monitoring for contaminants in Idaho’s waterways is on the shelf, leaving communities at risk for possible environmental issues. However, funding for the program and others like it has been restored for the 2013 fiscal year.
