Spencer Platt/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) — Jobless claims capped off the month of June dropping to the lowest level since mid-May, according to figures released Thursday by the Labor Department.

The news comes ahead of the latest monthly jobs report, which will be released Friday morning.  Economists expect to see 90,000 jobs added in June and the unemployment rate to remain at 8.2 percent.

For the week ending June 30, the government said the number of people filing for benefits decreased by 14,000 to 374,000.  The previous week, claims stood at 388,000.

The four-week average also fell, dropping by 1,500 to 385,750.
