Kansas City Royals Sign Veteran Catcher Jason Kendall
Published at(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) — The Kansas City Royals signed veteran catcher Jason Kendall to a minor league contract Thursday and assigned him to Double-A Northwest Arkansas.
The 38-year-old Kendall last appeared in the majors on Aug. 30, 2010 with the Royals. Since that time, he has undergone two surgeries on his right shoulder.
The three-time All-Star was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first round of the 1992 MLB draft. In 15 big league seasons, he has batted .288 with 75 home runs and 744 RBIs.
