Marcus Camby Headed Back to the Knicks
Published at(NEW YORK) — After more then 10 years away from the Big Apple, center Marcus Camby is back with the New York Knicks. The Knicks and Houston Rockets have agreed to a sign-and-trade deal to bring Camby back to New York.
Camby will sign a three-year deal with the Knicks worth $13.2 million. In exchange, the Knicks will send Toney Douglas, Josh Harrellson, Jerome Jordan, and a pair of second-round draft picks to Houston.
The 38-year old Camby played for the Knicks for four seasons, the last one in 2002. The former Defensive Player of the Year Award-winner will serve as a backup to current Defensive Player of the Year Award-winner Tyson Chandler. In 40 games with Houston last season, Camby averaged 3.8 points along with 8.8 rebounds per game.
Houston will receive a few quality role players. Douglas had fallen out of favor in New York and averaged 6.2 points and 2.0 assists per game. Harrellson averaged 4.4 points and 3.9 rebounds per game in his rookie season with the Knicks. Jordan, on the other hand, is seen as a project-type player. He averaged 2.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per game this past season.
Camby is the second addition the Knicks have made recently, along with Jason Kidd.
