(OAKLAND, Calif.) — The Oakland Athletics released left-handed reliever Brian Fuentes Wednesday, eight days after the team designated him for assignment.
The four-time All-Star went 2-2 with five saves, three blown saves and a 6.84 ERA in 26 appearances this season. In his last seven games, he went 0-2 with a save, two blown saves, and a 19.50 ERA.
The 36-year-old Fuentes notched his 200th career save this season against the Boston Red Sox, becoming just the sixth left-hander in baseball history to do so.
