MLB? SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1343762158557Major League Baseball(NEW YORK) — The Toronto Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Pirates have decided to swap their 2005 first-round draft picks. The Blue Jays have sent outfielder Travis Snider to the Pirates in exchange for pitcher Brad Lincoln.

Snider was the 14th overall pick by the Blue Jays in the 2006 amateur draft. He’s been with the club on and off since 2008, appearing in a career-high 82 games with the team in 2010. In five seasons with Toronto, Snider batted .248 with 31 home runs and 112 RBIs.

Meanwhile, Lincoln was the fourth overall player selected in the 2006 amateur draft. He’s had an up and down start to his Major League career. He posted ERAs of 6.66 and 4.72 in his first two seasons in the big leagues, but he’s show improvement this year. In 28 appearances, Lincoln was 4-2 with a 2.73 ERA for the Pirates.

The Pirates rank just 21st in the Majors in runs scored, which may be why the team acquired Snider. The Blue Jays, on the other hand, have been decimated by injuries to their starting rotation, which might be why the team went out and traded for Lincoln.
