Project Aims to Protect Jackson From Avalanche

(JACKSON, Wyo.) – The Wyoming Department of Transportation has awarded a $2.3 million contract to build an avalanche mitigation system south of Jackson. The structures will reportedly anchor the snow to the hillside to prevent any slides. The project will replace the snow sails that are already in place. Officials say the sails are difficult and costly to maintain.
