Rangers Acquire Rick Nash from Blue Jackets
Published at(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — The Columbus Blue Jackets traded their captain and All-Star right winger Rick Nash to the New York Rangers on Monday. Nash had requested a trade a couple of months ago but the Blue Jackets were unable to trade him at the time.
The Rangers sent Columbus centers Brandon Dubinsky and Artem Anisimov, defenseman Tim Erixon, and a first-round pick in next year’s draft. In addition to Nash, the Blue Jackets will send minor league defenseman Steve Delisle and a conditional 2013 third-round draft pick to New York, a source told ESPNNewYork.com.
Nash was added to help the Rangers’ scoring needs and carries a cap hit of $7.8 million for the next six years.
The Rangers are also reportedly one of many teams courting veteran free agent Shane Doan.
