(MIAMI) — Ray Allen will be taking his talents to South Beach after he told the Miami Heat he will be choosing them over returning to the Boston Celtics on Friday.
Allen is the NBA’s all-time leader in three-point field goals and a ten-time All-Star and took the mid-level exception to join the 2012 NBA champion Heat.
The mid-level exception starts at $3.09 million, according to ESPN.com’s Brian Windhorst. If Allen had chosen to return to Boston, he would of made twice as much.
Allen won a championship with Boston in 2008.
