Los Angeles Clippers/NBA(LAS VEGAS) — Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin will miss the Olympic games after sustaining a medial meniscus tear in his left knee, according to a Los Angeles Times report.

Griffin is expected to have arthroscopic surgery early next week. He is expected to miss eight weeks while recovering according to NBA executives. Griffin should be fine for the start of the NBA regular season.

“I hate it for him,” Teammate Chris Paul said. “He wanted to be a part of this so bad. He worked so hard to be here and be an Olympian. At the same time his health comes before anything.”

The 6-foot-10 Griffin joins Dwight Howard and Chris Bosh as big men who won’t suit up for Team USA due to injury.
