(SAN FRANCISCO) — In attempt to bolster their lineup, the San Francisco Giants have acquired infielder Marco Scutaro from the Colorado Rockies for minor league infielder Charlie Culberson.
The 36-year old Scutaro was having a nice season with the Rockies in his first and now only season in Colorado. In 95 games with the Rockies, he hit .271 with four home runs and 30 runs batted in. The Giants will be the sixth team Scutaro has played for during his 11th season in the Majors.
“I’ve never been traded before during the season. I really had fun here,” Scutaro said. “I really liked it here. Unfortunately, the season didn’t go the way we expected in the beginning. That’s the way baseball is. It’s a business and I get to go to a first-place team.
Meanwhile, Culberson was hitting .236 with 10 home runs and 53 runs batted in during his first season at Triple-A.
Scutaro will be a free agent after this season.
