Roger Federer Wins 7th Wimbledon Title
Published at(WIMBLEDON, England) — Roger Federer won his 17th Grand Slam title Sunday, defeating Andy Murray in four sets in the finals at Wimbledon, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4. The 30-year-old Federer took control of the match after a 40-minute rain delay in the third set.
“This is how I guess you want to win Wimbledon,” Federer said. “By going after your shots, believing that you can do it and that’s what I was able to do.”
It’s Federer’s seventh-Wimbledon championship, tying him with Pete Sampras for most titles at the All-England club.
Murray was looking to become the first Englishman since Fred Perry in 1936 to win the home tournament.
