Russell Brand Gets Community Service, Fine in Phone Tossing Case
Published at(LOS ANGELES) — Russell Brand will not be going to jail for tossing a photographer’s iPhone through the window of a building in New Orleans on March 12.
An attorney representing Brand entered a not guilty plea Thursday on the actor’s behalf to one count of misdemeanor criminal damage to property, but then worked out a deal with prosecutors that calls for the star to perform 20 hours of community service and pay $500 in court fees.
The charge will be dismissed if Katy Perry’s ex completes his community service by Aug. 31.
