With the win, Williams is now 55-3 at Wimbledon against players outside the top 10, including her current run of 28 in a row.  Rain did start to make its way onto the court during the last set, but the match continued.

“I felt fine out there, I think we both wanted to keep playing because it was so deep into the match,” Williams told ESPN after the match. “I didn’t want to stop, I don’t know if she wanted to stop.  I was definitely ready.”

Williams dominated the first set, but let the second one slip away and closed it out with a backhand on her first match point.

“I can play so much better than what I have been playing,” said Williams. “I know if I couldn’t then there would be a problem.”
