The Miami Marlins traded the 28-year-old third baseman along with reliever Randy Choate to the Los Angeles Dodgers for starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi and minor league pitcher Scott McGough, according to ESPN.com.

Ramirez, a three-time All-Star, has struggled the past two seasons. Last year he only played in 92 games, hitting .243 while dealing with shoulder issues all season. This season, Ramirez is hitting .246, with 14 home runs, 48 RBIs and 14 stolen bases.

Ramirez is in the fourth year of a $70 million dollar contract. He is making $15 million this year, $15.5 in 2013 and $16 million in 2014.

Ramirez will most likely play shortstop for the Dodgers, a position he played his whole career until this season when the Marlins acquired Jose Reyes, because the Dodgers starter Dee Gordon is on the disabled list and isn’t expected back until mid-August.
