“Derek Roy is a legitimate top two line center and has been productive throughout his career,” Stars general manager Joe Nieuwendyk said in a statement. “He is a proven commodity that helps fill a void at a position of need for our club. We believe Derek helps make our hockey club better, and we are happy to have him.”

The 29-year-old Roy has played all eight of his NHL seasons with Buffalo. He has scored 161 goals and handed out 266 assists.

Ott, 29, played all nine of his professional seasons with Dallas. Last season he posted 11 goals and 28 assists in 74 games.

Pardy, 28, has played four seasons in the NHL with the Calgary Flames and Dallas. Last season he averaged 16:28 minutes of ice time per game, the highest of his career.
