Ticket Prices Soar for “The Dark Knight Rises”

Warner Bros. Pictures/TM and © DC Comics/Ron Phillips(NEW YORK) — The Dark Knight isn’t the only thing that’s rising this week; so are ticket prices to see the new Batman flick, which debuts this Friday, July 20.
With midnight showings and IMAX screenings of The Dark Knight Rises selling out in various markets weeks and often months ago, many fans are turning to Craigslist and eBay, and paying big bucks for tickets.
An eBay seller in Los Angeles is asking $125 a ticket while another in Council Bluffs, Iowa, wants $140. Another eBay seller in L.A. is offering two tickets to a 7 p.m. Dark Knight screening for $300.
Still, the majority of people are selling tickets for mostly regular screenings in the still-overpriced $25 to $40 range.
It may be a good idea to check with your local theatre before shelling out big bucks for the flick. A Craigslist seller in New York City is asking $100 a ticket for a midnight screening, but the AMC Theatre location in Times Square as of Tuesday still had seats available for a 12:07 a.m. show.
