Wide Receiver Plaxico Burress Surprised He’s Still Unsigned
(NEW YORK) -- In his first season in the NFL since 2008, wide receiver Plaxico Burress enjoyed a productive season last year for the New York Jets. Yet, despite training camp being underway, he still finds himself without a team and that's something that surprises Burress.
"No doubt about it," Burress told ESPN's Adam Schefter. "With some of the things I was able to do after being away for two years, I pretty much thought it spoke for itself. But I guess obviously not."
In his one and only season with the Jets, Burress caught 45 passes for 612 yards, in addition to eight touchdowns. He missed the previous two seasons after being incarcerated for gun possession after he shot himself in the leg at a Manhattan night club.
"Some things you don't have an answer to, but to me it's just a matter of keep working hard, keep training, and keep building myself up to get back to the player I know I can be," Burress added.
The soon-to-be 35-year old Burress has played 10 NFL seasons for the Steelers, Giants, and Jets.
