Wladimir Klitschko Retains WBA, IBF And WBO Heavyweight Titles
Published at(BERN, Switzerland) — WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko successfully retained his titles against Tony Thompson Saturday night with a TKO in the sixth round.
The 36-year-old Klitschko knocked Thompson to the canvas in the fifth round with a big right hand. He sent the 40-year-old challenger to the canvas again in the sixth. Referee Sam Williams gave Thompson a standing count before stopping the fight at 2:56.
“Thompson was not so easy to box. I’m satisfied,” Klitschko said.
Klitschko improves his record to 58-3 with 51 knockouts while Thompson falls to 36-3 with 24 KOs.
