“I don’t know if I’m healthy enough or committed enough to continue another year,” said Roddick, a day before his second-round match against Bernard Tomic.

Roddick, who announced his retirement on his 30th birthday, is the last American man to hold the world’s No. 1 ranking and his 2003 U.S. Open win makes him the last U.S. male to win a Grand Slam tournament.

He retires with 610 match wins, 32 singles titles and is a three-time Wimbledon finalist.
