(WASHINGTON) — The Atlanta Braves have signed free-agent first baseman Lyle Overbay to a minor league contract, the team announced on Monday.
The 35-year-old Overbay will be sent to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday. He was released by the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this month after batting .292 with two home runs and 10 RBIs in 45 games played.
Besides the D-Backs, Overbay has also played with the Milwaukee Brewers, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
