He still has one year on his current contract so the new deal will keep him in Montreal until the 2018-2019 season.

The 23-year-old winger recorded a team high 65 points last season. He also won the Bill Masterton Trophy, which is given to the player thought to best demonstrate perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.

Pacioretty played in only 37 games during the 2010-11 season. He fractured a vertebra and suffered a concussion when he was checked by the Bruins’ Zdeno Chara in a regular season game.

In 202 career games, Pacioretty has 53 goals and 61 assists.
