Central Idaho Fire Grows to More than 5,000 Acres

(STANLEY) – A forest fire 18 miles northwest of Stanley has grown to more than 5,000 acres. Crews have been forced to evacuate several campgrounds including the Bradley Memorial Boy Scout Camp. Officials say that unlike other recent fires in the area, the Halstead Fire currently burning in the Salmon-Challis National Forest will be difficult to contain. About 200 firefighters are currently on the scene, with more expected within the next few days.
