Earnhardt Jr. led a career-best 36 laps and finished eighth in June at the Raceway and is hoping to add to his points lead.

“I do feel a little bit vindicated to the people that considered that I wouldn’t ever be competitive again,” Earnhardt Jr. said Friday. He enters the weekend 14 points ahead of Matt Kenseth.

“It’s not the championship, we’re leading the points today,” said Earnhardt Jr. who has had three straight top ten finishes at Pocono Raceway.  “Ain’t as awesome as winning the championship and going into Vegas as the top dog but it does feel good 20 races in the year to have put more points on the board than any other team.”
