(IRVING, TEXAS) — The Dallas Cowboys have acquired veteran offensive lineman Ryan Cook from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a seventh-round pick.
The 29-year-old Cook started at center for the Dolphins in their preseason finale against the Cowboys.
Cook was a second-round pick in 2006 by the Minnesota Vikings. He started 40 games during his time with the team and joined the Dolphins before the start of the 2011 season.
Over the course of his career, Cook has started games at center, right guard, and right tackle.
The trade gives the Cowboys more depth on the offensive line. Cook will primarliy backup center Phil Costa, who has been slowed by injuries this preseason.
The Cowboys open up the regular season on Wednesday, September 5 against the New York Giants.
