Dolphins Release WR Chad Johnson
Published at(DAVIE, Fla.) — After being arrested for domestic battery charges on Saturday night, the Miami Dolphins have cut wide receiver Chad Johnson.
Johnson signed a one-year deal in the offseason with Miami after having a tough 2011 season with the New England Patriots. Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin and Johnson met on Sunday night and was told the news.
Philbin had warned the six-time Pro Bowler about his attitude on and off the field a couple days prior to the arrest. The coaching staff had been upset with Johnson after he used profanity with reporters.
Johnson was released on $2,500 bond early Sunday before being cut. His wife, Evelyn Lozada, had accused Johnson of head-butting her during an argument in their home.
The artist formally known as Chad Ochocinco, had never been arrested in his 12-year NFL career before Saturday night.
