(NEW YORK) — Despite spending his entire career with the Heat, Wade admits he almost signed with the Bulls during free agency.
“It was very tough, it was one of the hardest decision I had to make in my life,” Wade told Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
“I’m a Chicago guy and I grew up idolizing the Chicago Bulls, idolizing Michael Jordan and wanted to wear that jersey,” Wade added. “So the day that I went in for the Chicago visit and they gave me the No. 3 jersey, I mean, that day messed me up. I went back home and I had the jersey on and, I mean, I turned into a kid.”
Wade had spent his first seven NBA seasons with the Heat prior to that summer. Soon after Wade re-signed, the Heat were able to sign Lebron James and Chris Bosh.
In nine seasons with the Heat, Wade has averaged 25.2 pionts per game.
