Despite suffering a rib injury in the team’s most recent preseason contest, Vick says he’ll be ready to go once the season starts.

Vick suffered bruised ribs against the New England Patriots when he was hit by linebacker Jermaine Cunningham in the first quarter. Even though he’s feeling some pain, Vick told reporters that he is “doing good, feeling better,” and that he has no doubt he’ll be ready to play in the team’s season opener against the Cleveland Browns on September 9.

“That was a pretty good shot he took.” Eagles head coach Andy Reid told reporters. “It was in a soft spot, and a good shot he took.”

The team will likely keep him out for the rest of the preseason.

In nine NFL seasons, Vick has played in all 16 games just one time and that was back in 2006.

Vick played in 13 games last season, but the Eagles missed the playoffs.
