(LOS ANGELES) — Even when she’s at work, Lindsay Lohan can’t escape controversy. A trailer on the set of her Lifetime movie Liz & Dick has suffered major damage, and its owner, who spoke to CNN, isn’t happy about it.
What makes the trailer so significant is that it was once used by Elizabeth Taylor, the legendary actress whom Lohan is portraying in the TV film. The trailer was given to Taylor while she was making her movie Cleopatra, co-starring her future husband — and ex-husband — Richard Burton.
It was purchased by an Elizabeth Taylor fan, Angel Alger, for $50,000 in June, but the terms of the sale required her to let the Liz & Dick crew use it for a week.
Alger tells CNN that the trailer suffered what she estimates to be at least $100,000 worth of damage during production, including cigarette burns on furniture and shattered glass. She also says a rocking chair that Taylor frequently sat on was stolen.
Alger says, “Only a psychotic and rebellious person or people would steal irreplaceable museum belongings and leave it in this vandalized condition.”
She believes Lohan may be responsible, because a studio employee told her the actress and her friends had access to the trailer on a nightly basis. Lohan’s rep denies Lohan damaged the trailer, telling CNN, “This has nothing to do with Lindsay.”
Lohan’s Lifetime movie premieres on Nov. 3. New pictures of Lohan as Taylor were released this week.
