As it does every August, Graceland has been hosting a series of events celebrating Presley’s life and music this week.  The 2012 Elvis Week kicked off last Friday and is scheduled to run through this Saturday.

One of the major highlights of the 35th anniversary commemoration of Presley’s passing is a special concert that will be held Thursday night at Memphis’ FedEx Forum.  The show will feature screenings of some of Presley’s classic in-concert moments and appearances by his ex-wife, Priscilla, and daughter, Lisa Marie.

The event also will boast live performances by a wide variety of musicians associated with the King, including longtime Presley drummer DJ Fontana, as well as TCB Band guitarist James Burton and piano player Glen Hardin.

The Country Music Hall of Fame also is featuring a number of Elvis-themed events this week to coincide with the anniversary.

Meanwhile, Priscilla and Lisa Marie Presley also are scheduled to make appearances Thursday on the Today show and Entertainment Tonight.

Actually, a slew of Elvis-related events, exhibitions, promotions and releases have been planned throughout 2012 in conjunction with the milestone anniversary.

Last month, a fan-selected compilation album titled I Am an Elvis Fan hit stores, while a box set called Prince from Another Planet gathering audio and video from Presley’s 1972 run of concerts at New York City’s Madison Square Garden is due out on Oct. 30.
