Former USC Offensive Lineman Fred Matua Dead At 28

University of Southern California/Collegiate Images/Getty Images(LOS ANGELES) -- Former USC offensive lineman Fred Matua died on Sunday morning.  He was 28-years-old.

According to sources close to Matua, the cause of death was heart related.  Matua had been hospitalized recently.

The 6-foot-2, 305 pounder started for the Trojans at offensive guard from 2003-2005.

The majority of games played during that span, including the school's BCS title win over Oklahoma has since been vacated due to sanctions against the University.

Matua left USC after his junior year and was drafted in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions.  He also played for the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, and Washington Redskins.

He also played briefly for the United Football League (UFL), in 2010.
