Halstead Fire Growth Slowing

(STANLEY) – A massive fire 18 miles northwest of Stanley is slowing down. The 37,000-acre Halstead Fire is being burned out in several locations as crews reduce the fuel load along the boundary with private lands. The lightning-sparked fire began burning nearly two weeks ago, prompting the evacuation of the Bradley Memorial Boy Scout Camp, among other locations. Salmon-Challis National Forest officials say safety remains their top priority.
