Hurricanes Sign Skinner to 6-Year Extension
Published at(RALEIGH, N.C) — The Carolina Hurricane signed 20-year-old center Jeff Skinner to a six-year contract extension Wednesday.
The deal is worth $34.35 million and will pay Skinner $4.35 million during the 2013-2014 season and $6 million annually for the following five years. Skinner still has one year left on his entry-level deal, which pays him $900,000.
“Jeff is a cornerstone player for our team, and his long-term commitment to the Hurricanes is great news for our franchise and our fans,” Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford. “At 20 years old, he is still in the very early stages of his career, and we felt it was important to ensure he would be spending much more of it in Raleigh.”
In 146 regular season games with the Hurricanes, Skinner has racked in 51 goals and 56 assists.
