After the race, Pocono Raceway officials announced one person died and nine others were injured after a lightning strike in the parking lot behind the grandstand.

“You hate to hear something like that,” Gordon said. “Certainly our thoughts are with them.”

Gordon won his first race since September 2011, and is now back in wild-card contention in the chase for the Spring Cup championship.

After the 98th lap was completed, the downpour began and the cars were forced off of the track.  The race should have been 160 laps.

Kasey Kahne finished second.  Martin Truex Jr., Brad Keselowski, and Tony Stewart rounded out the top five.

Gordon earned his 86th career win.
