Jessica Simpson’s Father Charged in Connection with DUI Arrest

Mark Sullivan/WireImage(LOS ANGELES) — Jessica Simpson’s father, Joe Simpson, has been charged with two misdemeanor counts stemming from his arrest on suspicion of DUI earlier this month.
The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office tells E! Online that the 54-year-old faces one count of driving under the influence and one count of driving with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 percent or higher. If convicted, Joe could get a maximum sentence of six months in jail, 36 months’ probation and a $1,000 fine.
Joe was arrested on Aug. 4 for allegedly driving under the influence in Sherman Oaks, Calif. The former minister spent the night in jail and was released the following day.
This is the first DUI offense for Simpson, who is due back in court on Aug. 30 for his arraignment.
