(CORTLAND, N.Y.) — With all the buzz coming out of New York Jets training camp regarding quarterback Tim Tebow and Tebowmania, starting quarterback Mark Sanchez let it be known just whose team it is.
“When you come in the huddle, not to be selfish here, but this is my huddle,” Sanchez said. “Don’t talk, name your position quickly and let’s go get lined up.”
During his short career, Sanchez has been criticized at times for his leadership, or lack thereof. That hasn’t been the case so far during camp, as Sanchez has been said to be taking charge at practices and stepping up as a team leader. The pressure was on Sanchez as soon as the team traded for Tebow during the offseason.
“I really think I’m navigating that a lot better now,” Sanchez said referring to his knowlege of the offense and his leaderhsip role.
Last season for the Jets, Sanchez threw for 3,474 yards, 26 touchdowns, 18 interceptions, and completed 56.7 percent of his passes.
