New York Yankees Sign RHP Derek Lowe
Published at(NEW YORK) — The New York Yankees signed veteran right-handed pitcher Derek Lowe on Monday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Bronx Bombers plan to use the 39-year-old Lowe mainly out of the bullpen.
The two-time All-Star was released by the Cleveland Indians last Friday after posting a record of 8-10 with a 5.52 ERA in 21 starts. He struck out 41 batters in 119 innings of work.
To create a spot for Lowe on their 40-man roster, the Yankees optioned pitcher Ryota Igarashi to Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre.
