North Twin Bridge Needs Reinforcing

(MADISON COUNTY) – It’s been 15 years since the south Twin Bridge collapsed in Madison County, and now the north bridge is facing a similar fate.Officials with the Army Corps of Engineers  say that the South Fork of the Snake River has shifted its course, with the bulk of the flows coming through the north channel. They say that with current conditions, the bridge is simply too short to cope with more erosion. They plan to use steel to reinforce the structure, as well as rebuild the riverbank. They caution that it’s not a permanent solution, and that a new bridge will eventually be needed.
