Fisher has been with Nashville since February 2011 after coming over in a trade from the Senators. He’s happy to be staying in the “Music City”.

“Obviously I love being here,” said the 32-year-old on Monday. “It has been a great year and a half for me. I love everything about the city. It is just a perfect situation.”

There were questions on whether or not Predators general manager David Poile would be able to spend any more money this offseason after matching the Flyers 14-year, $110 million offer sheet for defenseman Shea Weber last month, but Fisher was someone important to the franchise.

“He’s a great veteran player and now an assistant captain,” said Predators general manager David Poile.  “He won the NHL Foundation award for community service and I think that speaks well of Mike not only as a hockey player but more importantly as a human being.”
