Fox 26 in Houston has reported that Clemens is preparing to make his second start for the team.

In a text message sent to the station, Clemens said that he would make his second start for the Skeeters on September 7 against the Long Island Ducks. In his first start for the Skeeters, the 50-year-old pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings and allowed just one hit.

Even though it was a brief outing, scouts from the Houston Astros and Kansas City Royals were in attendance to watch him pitch. The Astros have publicly stated that under the right circumstances, they’d consider bringing Clemens back. He pitched for the Astros from 2004-2005.

“I think it will fuel that speculation,” Royals pro scout Ron Toenjes said after watchign Clemens first start with the Skeeters. “I don’t knlw what will happen. I odn’t think anyone does.”

In his 24 seasons in Major League Baseball, Clemens went 354-184 with a 3.12 ERA.
