Former Cy Young Award winner C.C. Sabathia was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday.  He is suffering from inflammation and pain in his pitching elbow.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi revealed the move after the team’s fourth straight win, a 5-2 triumph over the Blue Jays.

“As far as our concern, it’s pretty low,” Girardi said. “It’s not like it got any worse. He wants to pitch on Monday, which I’m not surprised, because he said he’s dealt with it before. We just decided; let’s try to get it cleaned up now.”

The Yankees ace has already dealt with an injury this season, missing 18 games with a strained groin earlier in the season.

Sabathia went for an MRI after his start against Seattle on Aug. 3, but it revealed nothing.

The left-hander is 12-3 with a 3.56 ERA this season.
