Locker beat out 13-year veteran Matt Hasslebeck for the job.

Locker was the eighth overall pick in 2011 draft out of the University of Washington, and was the understudy to Hasselback last season as the Titans went 9-7.

In limited game action, Locker threw for 542 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions last season.

“It’s really cool,” Locker said of the decision. “It’s something I’m proud of, but it’s not going to change my approach on how I practice or my preparation for a game. That will still all be the same, but it is cool to be given this opportunity.”

The Titans second year coach says the appointment was well-deserved.

“By no means has this job been given to him,” Munchak said. “He’s earned it.”
