(REXBURG,ID) — Rexburg Police are fed up with faulty alarm systems in businesses around town. Police say there have been more than 3,300 alarm calls in the last nine years, and only 15 have been actual break-ins. The city council is proposing an ordinance that will require businesses to register their alarms with the city. False alarms will require a $25 fee, while the second false alarm will require a $50 fee. Officials say its an incentive to get business owners to fix their faulty alarms and keep police officers safe. A vote on the ordinance is set for Sept. 19.
