(CHICAGO) — The Chicago White Sox placed first baseman Paul Konerko on the seven-day disabled list Friday.
Konerko suffered a concussion during the Sox 5-2 loss against the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, when Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson elbowed him in the head while running to first base.
“It will be different not having a guy like Paul in there,” White Sox skipper Robin Ventura said.
Konerko is hitting .316 with 18 home runs and 54 RBIs and is eligible to return to the lineup on August 17.
