The Niners (3-1) were not affected by a week on the road and forced four Jet turnovers while limiting New York to 145 yards of offense.

San Francisco racked up 245 yards rushing, led by 62 from Frank Gore. They opened the scoring in the second quarter when backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick lined up in the Wildcat formation and took the snap in on a seven yard touchdown run, the first of his career.

The 49ers would keep the pressure on the Jets (2-2) offense, and put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter when Carlos Rodgers took a fumble from Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes and returned it 54 yards for a touchdown to make it 24-0 in favor of the road team.

Holmes appeared to hurt his foot on the play and was carted into the locker room. He returned to the sideline on crutches.

Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez had an ineffective day, completing 13 of 29 passes for 103 yards and an interception. Pro Bowl cornerback Darelle Revis has already been ruled out for the year, and now the Jets top offensive weapon in Holmes could miss time. “We got to play with who we’ve got,” Sanchez said. “None of those guys are going to get better overnight.”

The 49ers return home to play the Buffalo Bills in Week 5.
