Billy Gillispie Resigns
Published at(LUBBOCK, Texas) — Texas Tech head men’s basketball coach, Billy Gillispie, resigned Thursday.
Gillispie struggled in his only season as the Red Raiders head coach. He led the team to an 8-23 record and less than a month ago, he was accused of mistreating players.
Gillispie also had issues off the court. On September 11, the 52-year-old coach was sent to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota where he received treatment for kidney problems and abnormal headaches.
The teams associate head coach from last season, Chris Walker, is currently in charge of the teams day-to-day operations.
