(BALTIMORE, MD) — The brother of Baltimore Ravens receiver Torrey Smith was killed in a motorcycle accident.
The accident occurred in Westmoreland County, Virginia late Saturday night when Tevin Chris Jones ran his motorcycle off the side of Route 672 and struck a utility pole, according to Virginia State Police.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The 19-year-old was wearing a helmet, but the accident is still under investigation.
Smith was at the team hotel in Baltimore when he was notified and left immediately to be with his family.
The second-year wide receiver is one of seven children of Monica Chants Jenkins.
Smith told Ravens head coach John Harbaugh that he wants to play Sunday night against the New England Patriots, but it is unclear if he will suit up.
On Sunday, Smith put this message on his Twitter account:
“I can’t believe my little brother is gone…be thankful for your loved ones and tell them you love them…this is the hardest thing ever.”
